The Saviour in the mirror!

The Saviour in the mirror!

Michael Jackson once released a powerful song titled Man in the Mirror. In its chorus, he delivers a simple but profound message: if we desire to see change in the world, that change must begin with the person staring back at us in the mirror.

Those words resonate with me deeply as I reflect on my current reality.

Life has a way of placing us face-to-face with ourselves. There are trials to overcome. Responsibilities that cannot be ignored. Goals that still have to be accomplished. Bills still have to be paid. Families still have to be cared for. Dreams still have to be pursued. And sometimes, all of these things seem to demand our attention at the exact same time.

As I examine my own life, I have been forced to accept a sobering but empowering reality:

No one is coming to save me and my family.

The saviour who must do the saving is the man in the mirror!

Now, that statement is not rooted in hopelessness. It is rooted in responsibility.

It doesn't mean that we don't need Almighty God, Allah. Quite the opposite. My faith teaches me that the Creator has already placed within us gifts, skills, talents, intelligence, strength, creativity, and the ability to grow. Prayer is essential! However, so is movement. Faith is essential! However, so is work. Belief is essential! However, so is discipline.

At some point, we have to stop waiting for someone else to arrive and change the conditions of our lives.

And I know I'm not the only person experiencing a season where life is lifing! LOL.

Maybe you're carrying responsibilities that nobody knows about. Maybe you're trying to keep your family together while simultaneously building something for the future. Maybe you're attempting to grow financially while still dealing with yesterday's financial decisions. Maybe you're trying to become healthier, stronger, more disciplined, more faithful, or more focused.

Whatever your circumstances may be, The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan teaches that Almighty God, Allah, has created us with the capacity to overcome and conquer the circumstances of our lives.

That means today matters.

Today is an opportunity.

You and I have another opportunity to take inventory of what the Creator has already placed inside of us. What gifts do you possess? What skills have you developed? What knowledge have you accumulated? What experiences have you survived? What relationships have you built? What talents are sitting dormant because you have been waiting for the "right time" to use them?

What if the answer to changing your condition is not something that is coming, but something that is already within you?

We can take our gifts, skills, talents, knowledge, and experiences and place them into meaningful exchange. We can use them to improve our conditions mentally, spiritually, physically, morally, and financially.

However, it requires us to look into the mirror.

Not to criticize ourselves.

Not to condemn ourselves.

But to challenge ourselves.

The person staring back at you has survived every difficult day you've experienced thus far. That person has learned lessons, developed abilities, overcome disappointments, and accumulated experiences that can be used to create a different tomorrow.

So perhaps the question isn't, "Who is coming to save me?"

Perhaps the better question is:

"What am I going to do with what God has already given me?"

There is power in realizing that while we cannot control every circumstance surrounding us, we can control how we respond to those circumstances. We can become more disciplined. We can become more knowledgeable. We can strengthen our faith. We can develop our bodies. We can sharpen our skills. We can repair our character. We can improve our finances. We can become more valuable to our families and our communities.

And we can begin today.

Take a look in the mirror.

The person looking back at you may be the very person you've been waiting for.

The saviour is in the mirror.
